Usery Mountain RV Guide

The best “first rental” campground in the East Valley: paved access, developed sites with water + electric, clean showers, and a dump station — close enough to town if you need anything.

About Usery (What it’s like)

Usery Mountain Regional Park sits on the edge of the Valley near Mesa’s desert foothills. It feels “out there” without being far from groceries, ice, and anything you forgot at home — which is why it’s a perfect confidence-builder trip.

What to do

  • Hike a short desert loop at sunrise/sunset.
  • Nature Center if you’ve got kids (quick win).
  • Easy “campground hang” weekend: cook, relax, repeat.

The “Don’t Ruin It” List

Most problems are power-related. If outlets/microwave/A/C/awning/slide won’t work, it’s usually: shore power, GFCI, breaker, or a safety interlock.

Simple “Day 1” Setup

  • Arrive with daylight (setup is faster).
  • Plug into shore power first.
  • Start fridge early (8–12 hrs to fully cool).
  • Do a 2-minute systems check, then relax.

Dump / Water / Propane Plan

Dump order: black first, then gray (gray rinses the hose).

Usery has a dump station on-site (typically for registered campers). If you need additional options around the Valley, we recommend using a dedicated “Utilities Finder” page.

If you haven’t created that page yet, tell me the slug you want and I’ll wire every guide to it.

Who this place is perfect for

  • First-time renters who want easy hookups and clean bathrooms.
  • Families who want a quick “practice weekend” before bigger trips.
  • Anyone who wants desert scenery without a long drive.

FAQ

Do the sites have full hookups?
Developed sites provide water + electric. Plan to use the dump station as needed and before you head home.
Is Usery good for big rigs?
The campground is designed to accommodate larger RVs (up to around 45'), but site layout still varies. If you’re near that limit, check your reservation details and arrive in daylight.
What’s the #1 thing that goes wrong?
Power confusion. If outlets or A/C don’t work, it’s usually shore power, a tripped GFCI, or a breaker. Our On-Trip Help page walks you through it fast.
Should we get delivery/setup?
If it’s your first rental, delivery is the easiest experience: we set it up, level it, connect power/water, and you start relaxing immediately.
